Indulge in Kenton-on-Sea’s fresh seafood and local eateries
Cafes and coffee shops
Start your morning at a cosy café. Places like Dilly Deli, MM Coffee, Caffeine Café, Miki’s Grind and Voila serve up aromatic brews and freshly baked pastries. You’ll often find locals having their daily coffee and catch-up here, reinforcing the friendly small-town atmosphere. For a unique treat, try a roosterkoek (traditional griddle bread) or a scone with local jam at a farm stall café.
Takeaway and fast food
To eat like a local, grab takeaways from Cornerstone (famous for fish and chips and calamari) and enjoy them on the beach. And if you’re driving in from Port Elizabeth, make sure to stop at Nanaga Farm Stall on the way – their legendary pies and homemade ginger beer are the stuff of road trip dreams!
Restaurants and bistros
You’ll be spoilt for choice with our selection of eateries and restaurants. Enjoy thin-crust pizza at Pizzarella or delicious Portuguese-Mozambique meals at the Post House Grill. Volo offers a diverse oasis of seven unique spaces and experiences, each offering a distinctive atmosphere – they have carefully crafted an environment that caters to every mood and occasion. Many spots have outdoor seating, children’s play areas, and even entertainment on busy nights.
Kenton Asian brings bold, contemporary Asian cuisine to the village, with vibrant dishes inspired by flavours from across the continent.
If you’re looking for a special night out, book a table at Stanley’s Restaurant, set on a hill with incredible panoramic river views. Another popular spot is The House Kitchen & Cellar, known for its farm-to-table approach and lovely garden setting. The Sandbar Floating Restaurant is also famous for its scenic river views and delicious seafood.
Bars and pubs
Although things wind down early in Kenton (by 10-11 pm Kenton is quiet under the stars!), we still have vibrant bars and pubs to keep you entertained. The Volo is the venue for cocktails, craft beers, and evening entertainment, popular among locals and visitors alike. The Bushmans Bar & Grill (BBG’s) is a local institution – cold beers, hearty meals, and sports on the TV. The Loft Pub & Grub occasionally features live bands and offers a casual spot for a drink or bite to eat. Most restaurants also double as bars where you can enjoy a sundowner cocktail or craft beer, such as Jerry’s on the Dune.
